What is Hypersensitivity Pneumonitis
Hypersensitivity pneumonitis, also known as extrinsic allergic alveolitis, is a complex immunologically mediated lung disease with associated constitutional symptoms. It is characterized by non-immunoglobulin E (IgE)-mediated inflammation of the pulmonary interstitium, terminal airways, and alveoli. A wide variety of inhaled organic dusts or ingested medications has been implicated in this disorder.
